Tim was found on Christmas Eve by a very kind man along with his friend. His friend was suffering with a PT so didn't make it but Tim was the pick of health. I had been trying to help the man who had him re-home him for quite a while but to no avail. I was already taking Scamp so I thought I'd take Tim aswell and pair them up. It took quite a while for Tim and Scamp to get along but eventually we got there with the help of their foster home. Both Tim and Scamp are very happy in their new home and the owner gives me regular updates on how they're doing.
Scamp was given to me along with a doe that had given birth to 10 babies but unfortunetly all 10 died one night. At first Scamp was very shy but eventually warmed up to humans with the help of someone who fostered him and Tim. They both went to a brilliant home in Athlone where they're given plenty of attention and have a giant cage with plenty of toys.
Chomper my shy and nervy agouti boy went to Snarf's Rat Sanctuary today where he'll have the company of other rats. He has made such a tremendous amount of progress in just one week, I know in the coming weeks he'll be transformed into a new rat.
Curly, Moe and Larry arrived at the rescue along with their brother, Dad, and friend. All were quite skittish but with regular handling from their foster they, like many other skittish rats at the rescue have improved greatly and are beginning to come to the door of the cage when opened. They were all closely bonded so it was decided that they should be re-homed together. Unfortunately trying to find a home for a black berkshire is difficult enough because they look 'wild', let alone trying to find someone to take all 3. Luck struck when someone got in contact saying they prefer agouti of black rats because they look like wildies in their adoption form, so I was delighted when they agree'd to take them on. All are now happily living in their new home with an enormous cage.
Mocha was a very special rat. She was pretty enough with her dumbo ears, but she actually had different coloured eyes, one red and one black. She was originally supposed to be homed with Katana, but she developed a lump in her neck which I suspected to be a ZGT so Mocha was re-homed on her own to go live with her new friend Gizmo. Fortunately, Katana's lump turned out to just be an abcess so will hopefully be going to live with her sister and Gizmo soon.
